Jonathan’s Return Will Affect Tinubu’s Second-Term Chances – Umar Sani
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Sani, has said that the return of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the presidential race would greatly reduce President Bola Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term in 2027.
Speaking on Friday during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Sani claimed that Tinubu is currently working to win over the South-South region by focusing on states such as Edo, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers.
“Tinubu is preparing these states for himself. The coming of Jonathan will upstage his efforts, as the South-South will rally strongly to support him. They simply cannot sacrifice their own son for any other consideration.
“They will come out en masse because this is their son. So they cannot sacrifice their own son for any other consideration.
“So, it will affect Tinubu more than it will affect any other candidate that is coming from the North, which is the battleground for Jonathan,” Sani said.
