The Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Mr. Joseph K. Shazin, has said his administration has reviewed upward the council’s revenue tariff to improve the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of the council.
Speaking at a press briefing at the weekend, the chairman said steps were also taken to improve the revenue profile of the council by establishing timber and cattle markets at Dabi/ Bako and Yangoji / Koroko communities of the council.
He added that the council has revamped the internal audit of the council in order to improve internal control mechanism and transparency.
He said that was necessary to ensure leakages in government transactions were blocked.
He had also set up project verification committee to look at the situation on ground and come out with recommendations.
“And when their report was submitted, I said I was going to make their report my book of reference. We are on course, as my administration has tried to execute some programmes that have direct relevance to the people. I have tried within the resources of the council to embark on programme and activities which I considered to improve the living standards of the residents of the council,” he said.
He added that the council had also procured motorcycles and given to Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps to assist in pipeline surveillance along the axis.
