As Nigerians mark Democracy Day, Former Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has congratulated pro-democracy activists and freedom fighters that fought for the actualisation of the June 12 struggle.
Aregbesola in a message noted the sacrifices and pains of those who stood by the mandate of June 12 which overwhelmingly was in the favour of the late M.K.O Abiola.
The former Governor is of the view that the nation’s leaders should always remember the struggle of June 12 and enact policies that will further fulfill the dreams of the late Abiola.
He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for standing by history, justice and equity by ensuring that the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerian freedom fighters come into fruition.
Aregbesola said “As we celebrate Democracy Day, we remember Chief MKO and the many unnamed freedom fighters who gave it all in the struggle for the actualization of the June 12.”
“Special appreciation goes to President Muhammadu Buhari for standing on the side of history, justice and equity.”
