JUST IN: Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu Resigns

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has resigned from his ministerial position.

In a letter dated 26 March, 2026 circulating online on Tuesday, personally signed by him and addressed to President Bola Tinubu, Adelabu said the reason for his resignation was to enable him pursue his governorship ambition as Oyo State Governor.

He appreciated Tinubu for the opportunity given to him to serve

The letter partly reads: “I write with profound gratitude to Your Excellency to formally tender my resignation from my position as Honorable Minister of Power, Federal Republic on Nigeria.

“I wish to sincerely thank Your Excellency for the confidence reposted in me and the opportunity to given to serve our great nation under your administration. It has been a privilege contributing to the efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s power sector in line with Your Renewed Hope Agenda.

“My decision to resign is to enable me pursue my aspiration to contest for the office of Governor of Oyo State and to dedicate my.time and resources to that endeavor.

“Please accept, Your Excellency, my assuranaces of highest respect and appreciation.”
