Kaduna Violence: 43 Suspects Arraigned, 50 Under Investigation – Police
The Nigerian Police says it has arrested 93 persons who are involved in the crisis in Kaduna State, starting with the killings at the Kasuwan Magani area of the state.
Force Public Relations Officers, Mr Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this while briefing reporters in Abuja.
“A total number of 93 suspects were arrested in connection with the multiple killings and wanton destruction of private and public properties worth millions of naira in the state,” he said.
The police spokesman added, “43 suspects are currently being prosecuted while 50 suspects in police custody are under investigation and will be arraigned in court soon.
“Investigation is being intensified to arrest other suspects still at large.”
Mr Moshood vowed that the police would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the perpetrators and their sponsors were brought to book.
He also called on the residents of Kaduna to go about their lawful daily business with an assurance that the police would continue to step up measures to protect their lives and property.
The Force spokesman added that peace and normalcy have been restored throughout the state, most especially at Kasuwar Magani area and other parts of Kaduna South.
According to him, the Kaduna State Police Command in collaboration with other security and safety agencies will continue the confidence-building patrols throughout the state and sustain the normalcy that has been restored.
Moshood revealed that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has directed Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters to meet with all the stakeholders in the state.
The meeting, he explained, is aimed at giving peace a chance and sustain the normalcy that has been restored in Kaduna.
