Kano @50: Kwankwaso Rated 2nd Performing Governor

Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has rated his predecessor, Dr Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso second performing civilian governor of the state after late Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi.

Speaking at a popular radio programme, Barka da Hantsi aired by a private radio station, Freedom Radio on Monday, Ganduje categorized his personal rating into civilian and administrators that governed the state.

Governor Ganduje also rated Rimi as the first performing civilian governor the state ever had, while late Alhaji Audu Bako as the first performing administrator of the state since its creation on May 1967.

“Late Audu Bako is rated first among the administrators that ruled Kano because he has performed wonderfully especially in the areas of Agriculture and infrastructure respectively. He had constructed many dams across the state for irrigation farming and executed various infrastructural projects during his time.

“I personally rated Rimi first performing civilian governors that governed the state for his track records in the areas of education, rural development and media. He is the governor that established Triumph newspaper and the present Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV). In fact, Rimi built up from where late Audu Bako stopped.

“Kwankwaso came second because he has also performed wonderfully especially during our second tenure. After we returned in 2011, we were able to correct our past mistakes, strategized and executed various projects for the people of Kano. It was during his second tenure that Kano got Kofar Nassarawa Bridge, Kabuga and Gadon-Kaya underpass bridges respectively. He also laid the foundation of first Kano independent power project among other projects,” he said.

Governor Ganduje explained that all other governors and military administrators had also contributed their quota towards the development of the state, noting that “the problem most military administrators faced was that many of them did not stay longer on the seat of power, but they have equally performed excellently.”
