Kano: Emir Sanusi Holds First Palace Court Sitting As Ganduje Men Vow To Return Bayero To Palace
Amid the royal crisis that is ongoing in Kano, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi has moved out of the palace to hold first palace court sitting.
Osun Defender reports that there is tension in Kano as Emir Sanusi and dethroned Emir Aminu Ado Bayero operate from different palaces in Kano.
Sanusi, dethroned by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was reinstated as new Kano Emir on Thursday by the state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, after the Kano Emirates Council Law was repealed.
Aminu Ado Bayero, who was dethroned alongside other emirs, arrived in Kano on Saturday and moved to the Nassarawa mini palace, with retinue of supporters.
Meanwhile, Muazu Magaji, Commissioner of Works in the administration of ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said plans are underway to return the dethroned Emir of Kano to the palace.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Magaji said Ado Bayero would retake the palace currently being occupied by Sanusi.
“Now the emir’s flag has been mounted on his car. We are making preparation to take to the palace,” he wrote.
