The interim chairman of Madobi Local Council, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Gora, visited the Kauran Mata community to offer condolences following the incident.

Yakasai reported that the chairman assured the community that the council would provide full support to the affected families and offer any necessary assistance during this challenging period.

A resident of Kauran Mata, Salisu Adamu Baure, said this was the first time such a fatal accident had occurred in the river, attributing the tragedy to overloading.

According to him, the canoe was carrying two bags of rice and a motorcycle at the time of the incident.

The ward head of Kauran Mata, Ibrahim Lawan, called on the Kano State government and local elected officials to provide modern speed boats equipped with life jackets to prevent future tragedies.

The spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident and noted that the councillor representing Kauran Mata Ward, Aminu Garba, had contacted the state fire service immediately after the incident occurred.
