Katsina Governor Involved In Road Accident, Rushed To Hospital
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State was reportedly involved in a road accident along the Daura–Katsina expressway on Sunday evening.
Reports initially broke through a tweet by Mohammed Jammal, popularly known online as ‘White Nigerian’, who disclosed that the governor had sustained a fracture and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Daura for treatment.
“Reports indicate that Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State was involved in a car accident while travelling from Daura to Katsina. He sustained a fracture and is currently receiving treatment… Thankfully, he has been stabilised,” the tweet read.
The unconfirmed nature of the report triggered widespread speculation, with many Nigerians taking to social media to wish the governor a quick recovery, while others questioned the authenticity of the claims.
However, in a swift response to the circulating rumours, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, issued an official statement clarifying the situation.
He confirmed that Governor Radda was indeed involved in a “minor road accident” while returning from an official engagement.
“We are pleased to confirm that the Governor is in good health and stable condition, with no serious injuries sustained.
“As a precautionary measure, the Governor is currently receiving routine medical evaluation at a medical facility, where he is being attended to by qualified medical professionals,” the statement said.
Mohammed added that Governor Radda remained in high spirits and extended his gratitude to Almighty Allah, as well as to the citizens of Katsina State and other well-wishers for their prayers and concern.
It remains unclear whether the governor was returning from a visit to the residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari, as he has made several trips to Daura in the wake of Buhari’s recent death.
Radda had attracted attention during the late president’s burial ceremony after he was seen visibly emotional during the military honours segment.
