Kidnappers Taking Advantage Of Our Bad Roads, Esa-Oke Residents Beg Adeleke To Intervene
RESIDENTS of Esa-Oke in Obokun local government area of Osun State have lamented the bad state of the roads linking the town and Imesi Ile, and other communities.
Some of the residents who are members of Tipper Association of Nigeria, Esa-Oke branch, said kidnappers have been taking advantage of the roads to perpetrate crime.
They appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to see to the rehabilitation of the roads, saying that will be their own share of dividends of democracy.
Lamenting that the road to Imesi Ile has become a death trap for motorists, the residents said fixing it will stop crime, accident and loss of lives in the area.
One of the concerned residents, Mr Olayinka Asaba said: “We’re now experiencing hardship. Mechanics who work on our vehicles tell us that the problems we’re having are not about engines but because of the bad condition of our road.”
A stakeholder in the town, James Ademiju, noted that the bad roads pose danger to the students, members of staff and residents of the area, adding that he has been intervening in the patching of the road to make it motorable.
He said: “I am personally pleading for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s intervention as a user of the road, our students and members of staff may be kidnapped or killed on the road if not fixed.”
Also, a resident of the ancient town, Michael Daramola, said the road has become a hub for kidnapping, maintaining that it would be difficult for anybody to move in or out of the area if nothing is done on the road.
He lamented that farmers and other road users could no longer ply the road because of the fear of not being kidnapped.
A woman identified simply as Idowu said she had to abandon her vehicle because of the deplorable state of the road.
“The road is spoiling vehicles. I have parked my car at home. I don’t take it out again,” she said.
