The Executive Secretary, Osun State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OSACA), Dr. Monsur Bello has charged the people of the state to endeavour to know their HIV status and also be free to declare it, if positive.
Bello stated this during an advocacy visit to OSACA by a non-governmental organization, Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS, (NEPWHAN), State of Osun chapter.
He noted that it is until people are ready to declare their HIV status, especially the elites in the society that the stigmatization of people living with virus would become a thing of the past.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Project Manager, OSACA, Dr. Akin Oyebade, implored NEPWHAN to embark on massive sensitization of the people of the state in order to achieve the strategic plan of putting an end to the spread of HIV/AIDS by the year 2030.
In his speech, the State Coordinator NEPWHAN, Evangelist Ben Ituah appreciated the management team of OSACA for giving them audience.
He said the prevalence rate of the disease was on the increase according to a recent finding.
Evangelist Ituah also called on people living with the virus in the state to come out of ‘self stigmatization’ and join other organisations in their attempt to put an end to the spread of the disease.
