Nigerians have reacted to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, approving the appointment of 1,192 additional aides.
The approval which was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Folashade Ayoade, was met with a wide knock.
Ayoade had in the statement said, “The aides include Yakubu Abdulhakeem who is to serve as the Executive Secretary, Kogi State Office for Disability, 165 Senior Special Assistants, and 36 Special Assistants.
“Others on the list approved by the governor are 574 Ward Special Assistants and 290 Local Government Special Assistants,” the statement read.

Similarly, Ododo also approved the appointment of Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulsadiq as the Director of Protocol, First Lady Office, in addition to other retinue of aides.
The governor congratulated all appointees and urged them to put in their best service to the state and humanity at large.
Ayoade said that all appointments are with effect from September 1, 2024.
Reacting to the announcement on X, Owolabi Abioye @Owomummy, wrote, “A state that is lagging behind in terms of development is having over 2,000 aides. This is shameful.”
Another X user, Malik Umah @Umah_4 criticised the governor for the latest appointment, noting that it was a wrong move at this critical time.
He wrote, “This is how you will know someone put in the seat of power as a puppet. I’m very sure his master gave him that list cos how will a reasonable person at this critical time appoint all this aides. What will be their job and what is the IGR of Kogi that we need all these political jobbers?
