Following the abduction of students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has linked the incident to alleged internal sabotage with a promise that security agencies in the state were making frantic efforts to rescue abducted students.
This is as he vowed to review ongoing security operations within and around the institution to ensure the speedy rescue of abducted students.
Ododo, who was away when the incident occurred but on his return, visited the university to assess the situation and receive briefs from the school management to enable collective strengthening of the security architecture in the university.

Speaking with newsmen, Governor Ododo revealed that a preliminary report suspects internal sabotage due to the disconnection of the CCTV cameras within the premises shortly before the attack.
He, however, assured that those behind the ugly incident will be brought to book.
“We cannot rule out internal sabotage in this operation because the school is fully equipped with CCTV cameras, how come they could not capture the attack when it happened?
“What is most important to us right now is the rescue of the abducted students and we will not rest until this is achieved as soon as possible.
“I must commend all the security agencies including the local vigilante and hunters groups for the progress made so far,” he added.
The governor urged citizens to volunteer credible information that can assist security agencies in their investigations.
He assured that the government will continue to strengthen security across school communities to make it safest for the students to go about carrying out their academic activities without fear of attack.
