Korede Komaiya Demands Apology Video From Detained Pastor Alilu Before Release
One Korede Komaiya, the self-proclaimed pastor of Master’s Palace International Church has insisted that detained Apostle Festus Alilu of Word of Power Gospel Church International must record and publicise an apology video before he can be released.
OSUN DEFENDER had reported that Alilu was arrested by the police late Thursday after making controversial statements against Komaiya.
The arrest followed a video in which Alilu accused Komaiya of misleading church members with fabricated prosperity teachings.
Providing an update on Friday evening, a top source at a meeting between Komaiya and Alilu’s representatives revealed to SaharaReporters, saying “They have apologised to Pastor Korede and he accepts to withdraw the matter. We just left a meeting with him now. The apostle is not yet released. They said he (Alilu) will have to make a video and apologise and publicise it online.
“Then he will preach on the apology in his church. He will have to publicly go to his altar and say, ‘I said something against Pastor Korede Komaiya, I lied. He is a genuine man of God. I was not led by the Spirit of God when I made that statement,’” the source said.
In his original video, Alilu had claimed Komaiya’s sermons were designed to exploit congregants by promoting financial breakthroughs and success through offerings and tithes.
“There is a particular man of God in Delta State, Warri, who will say to his congregation, ‘If you have N1 million in your account, and you did not give it to God, you are a fool.’ He will say, ‘If you have N10 million and you did not give it to God, you are a fool.’ The people will shout, ‘Glory! Amen!’ And they will empty their accounts. Who did they give it to? Did they give it to God?” Aliu said, criticising Komaiya’s ministry.
He also referenced activist Omoyele Sowore’s criticism of certain Nigerian pastors, suggesting that such teachings contribute to distrust toward Christian leaders.
“I saw a video where Omoyele Sowore was saying that Nigerian pastors are liars. I was very angry and almost reacted to it. But now, the truth is unfolding. That means many of us are truly liars. We fabricate lies in the name of prosperity, in the name of success, in the name of breakthrough, in the name of lifting, and we use it to manipulate people. Some of us have used this to build personal empires.”
