Kwam 1 Faces Criticism Over Fatherhood Duties As Son Receives Scholarship Amidst Actress’ Allegations
Nigerian Fuji singer King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as Kwam 1 or K1, is facing public backlash following recent revelations by actress Bisola Badmus about their co-parenting relationship.
Badmus has publicly criticized Kwam 1 for allegedly neglecting his responsibilities towards their son, Malik, despite initially accepting him as his child.
In a recent episode of Talk To B, Badmus shared her frustration, revealing that Kwam 1’s support for Malik ceased abruptly after initially accepting him as his son.
“From the beginning, he accepted the boy as his son but it changed all of a sudden,” she said.
“What I want from K1 is to be responsible for Malik, his son. I just want him to take care of his son.”
Badmus also alleged that the Fuji star’s support in her battle with brain disease was short-lived.
“He didn’t know about my condition earlier because I didn’t tell him. When he knew, he tried his best for a while but stopped at some point,” she added.
In 2023, the film star opened up about her battle with a brain disease known as encephalopathy.

The controversy surrounding Kwam 1’s parental duties has intensified as Malik recently received a scholarship from the public, an act of generosity that came in response to Badmus’s pleas for help.
Her colleague, Biola Bayo, via her Instagram page, made the good news known as she expressed gratitude to those who have been supporting her.

“THANK GOD WE FINALLY GOT A SCHOLARSHIP FOR MALIK! OLUWASEUN”. May God continue to help her, I pray she will never lack money and the gift of good people around you.
Netizens have expressed their disappointment, with many highlighting the contrast between Kwam 1’s financial stability and the support extended to Malik by the community.
Comments on social media have included calls for Kwam 1 to fulfill his paternal obligations, with some users referring to him as a “deadbeat father.”
One Tifeh_betterglory wrote, “His dad is hale and hearty, and his son is being offered a scholarship. It’s not like you’re pøor or on average, if this isn’t the definition of deadbeat, then I don’t know what it is
One Lemmah_Beauty_home wrote, “Alhamdulilahi olorun Seun. Haaaa oga laikin se pe his father is not alive. God’s protection over you dear Malik
One Ab Priceless World wrote, “It is well

In 2022, while celebrating her son’s 10th birthday, Bisola threw shade at Kwam1, referring to him as a deadbeat father. She noted how she has been playing the roles of both parents to him.
When TheCable Lifestyle contacted Kunle Rasheed, Kwam 1’s spokesperson, to get his principal’s comment on the allegation, he said he was unaware of the claim and hadn’t discussed it with the Fuji singer.
Rasheed promised to reach out as soon as Ayinde confirmed or denied the allegation.
“I am not aware of that ‘fact’. This is not to say, it is right or wrong, I am not aware,” he said.
“My principal has NEVER discussed such with me before and I can’t know what is inside of him if he has not said it. I will definitely get back to you if I confirm or otherwise. Thank you”.
Born Wasiu Ayinde, Kwam 1 has always been called out for controversial reasons.
In 2020, he was accused of having an extramarital affair with Olori Ajoke, Alaafin of Oyo’s youngest wife — an allegation he denied.
In 2024, the singer also dismissed rumours that he had a marital crisis with Emmanuella Ropo, his wife.
Kwam 1 and Ropo got married in September 2021.
