The land, which spans over 100 hectares, was originally allocated to WAECO Nigeria Limited during Rabiu Kwankwaso’s administration but was revoked by his successor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission in 2017, said investigations, revealed that WAECO, linked to Rabiu Kwankwaso and his brother, was not a legal entity at the time of the allocation, leading the agency to recommend revocation.

Subsequently, Ganduje reassigned part of the land to Mallam Kato Square and returned the rest to the original owners, including the Dantata family.

Governor Abba Yusuf has resisted calls to reallocate the land to WAECO Nigeria Limited, prompting Garba Kwankwaso to take legal action.

Kwankwaso in his application to a the court sought an order to prevent the defendants from entering, developing, or reallocating the land pending the outcome of the case.

Justice Usman Na’abba granted the order on November 13 and adjourned the case to November 27 for further hearings.
