Kwara Killings: Security Agencies Knew About Criminals for Eight Years – Yahuza Getso
Security and intelligence expert, Yahuza Getso, has said security agencies cannot deny knowing about criminal elements terrorising Kwara State for over eight years.
Getso made the remark on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Morning Brief,’ following the recent bandits’ attack on a Kwara community that left more than 100 people dead.
The incident has drawn outrage from across the country and beyond.
He questioned why the terrorists were left unchallenged, saying, “A lot of combined, well-coordinated, and well-organised criminal activity has been happening there since 2016, 2017, and 2018.
“I have made it very clear that intelligence and security personnel have not done what they are supposed to do. They could have prevented this carnage. All necessary measures were taken to flush out anyone within a 75 to 80-kilometre radius. If that had happened, this conflict between the community and the criminals would not have occurred.
“The security agencies cannot tell me they didn’t know about these criminals for the last eight to nine years.”
