Labour Unions Commence Indefinite Strike In Nasarawa

 

The Labour Union in Nasarawa state has commenced indefinite strike to press home the demand for improved welfare for workers in the state.
The body comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and other affiliated unions said the strike becomes necessary following the state government’s failure to heed to their demands within the grace period.
They vowed not to call off the strike until their demands are met.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Yusuf Iya made the announcement on Tuesday at the Labour House in Lafia, the state capital.
He said the decision to embark on the indefinite strike was reached after a meeting of the state executive council held on Tuesday.
The labour unions are demanding implementation of promotions which they say have lingered for over a decade, implementation of annual increments, training among others.
