THE Lafogido Heritage Foundation of Ile-Ife, Osun State, has facilitated the reconstruction of Ita-Otutu road in the ancient city with the assistance of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This was disclosed by Prince Adeyemi Ademiluyi, the Chairman Festival Planning Committee of the inaugural Lafogido Heritage Festival at a press conference in Osogbo, yesterday.
According to Ademiluyi, the festival is in commemoration of the 30th memory of one of their forefathers, Late Prince Ademakinwa Ademiluyi (Mackay).
He said Lafogido Heritage Foundation has also provided solar panel streetlights, refurbished a borehole for good water, provided school uniforms for private and public schools, renovated school classrooms in Ile-Ife, among other humanitarian services.
The festival is targeted towards showcasing the ruling house and Ile-Ife community to the world, he added.
Ademiluyi said: “We plan to showcase the Lafogido Family and the Ile-Ife community to the world by holding the inaugural Lafogido Heritage Festival 2023, an Exhibition of Arts and Traditional Food, in Ile-Ife on Friday, 29th and Saturday, 30th December 2023.
“The exhibition will feature works of art, ranging from paintings to sculptures, depicting the cultural heritage of the Lafogido Ruling House. There would also be an arts competition among students in attendance.
“The 29th of December will showcase the food competition where there will be a food display to ensure patronage and eating of traditional meals and drinks by our guests, reminding us of our forefathers’ love for culture, and how they made us appreciate and value our heritage. We are already expecting guests from all over Nigeria and the Diaspora to show to all, the rich culture and tradition.
“The 30th of December will be the day to showcase the arts exhibition and hand off gifts and prizes to the various winners.
“The festival would also serve as the platform to officially launch the Lafogido Heritage Foundation, which focuses on developing young minds and the community.
“The Foundation has already hit the ground running in terms of giving back to the community by re-constructing the Ita Otutu road with the assistance of the Osun State Government.”
