A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Alhaji Rasaq Adeola Banire, is dead.

Banire, who is the apex leader of the party for Ojo Federal Constituency, reportedly died on Friday, 1 August 2025, without any complaint of illness.

“He died this morning without any complain of sickness. He had meeting all day yesterday. He went out today. It was a big shock to us,” a top member of the APC told thegazelle.

Reacting to the shock news, the Chairman of the state chapter of APC, Pastor (Hon.) Cornelius Ojelabi expressed deep sadness and shock over the sudden death of the APC Leader in Ojo Federal Constituency.

According to Ojelabi, the sudden death, “Alhaji Rasak Adeola Banire on August 1, 2025 has left an unfillable void in our party’s fabric. A stalwart leader, tireless servant, and champion of our ideals, his departure is a profound loss to the APC family.

“As a dedicated and selfless leader, he consistently placed the party’s interests above his own, earning the respect and admiration of the people and his constituents. His absence will undoubtedly leave a significant void in our party’s leadership, particularly in guidance, counseling, and decision-making.

“We, however, take comfort in the memories of his tireless efforts to build and strengthen our party at the grassroots level.

“On behalf of the APC Lagos, I pray for the repose of Alhaji Banire’s soul and for the family to bear this irreparable loss, even as we strive to build a better future for our constituents, inspired by his legacy.

“The party will continue to draw inspiration from his remarkable leadership and dedication to our ideals. May his memory be a blessing to us all, and may his soul rest in perfect peace. May God grant us the fortitude to carry on his legacy.”
