Lagos Govt Shuts Popular Markets in Mushin, Yaba
The Lagos State government has shut down the popular Alamutu market and destroyed makeshift structures obstructing traffic movement along railway corridors in Yaba.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this known on Tuesday through his official X.
Wahab said the Lagos Waste Management Authority officials and the state’s Environmental Sanitation Corps officials sealed the Alamutu market at Idioro Mushin over poor sanitary conditions.
He wrote: “On my directives, @Lawma_gov earlier today (3rd of October) sealed up Alamutu (Ologede) market at Idioro, Mushin due to its poor sanitary conditions and inefficient waste disposal practices.
“LAWMA (@Lawma_gov) alongside KAI operatives (@LAGESCOfficial) early Tuesday dislodged street traders operating along the Railway Corridor at Yaba to ease traffic movement.”
