Lagos: Man In Court For ‘Starving’ Stepson

A 45-year-old man, Aramide Tito has was on Monday arraigned by Lagos command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), for allegedly starving and assaulting his 11-year-old stepson.

The defendant was arraigned at a chief magistrates’ court in Badagry over indecent dealing, assault, and attempted murder.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

Clement Okuoimose, the prosecutor, told the court that Tito unlawfully “beat and starved his stepson for three days.

“The defendant poured hot water on him while he was sleeping,” he said.

“He attempted to murder the boy while he was sleeping.”

He stated that the offence contravened Sections 135, 245, and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state 2015.

AJ Aina, the chief magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until September 25, 2024, for hearing.
