Lagos Police Arrest 43, Recover Arms, Ammunition

Policemen from the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, arrested forty-three suspected during a raid of black spots in the Oshodi area of the state.

A semi-automatic pistol, one expended ammunition, and a 9mm caliber in was also recovered in another operation around the Opebi area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement signed by him on Thursday.

Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, said that the suspects were arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad.

The police image maker said, โ€œOperatives of Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Tuesday arrested 43 suspects in an all-night raid of notorious spots in Oshodi and its environs, just as they recovered a semi-automatic pistol in a separate incident the same day.โ€

โ€œThe raid, which was
carried out in Anthony, Bolade Oshodi, and Oshodi Terminus, was sequel to credible intelligence about the activities of undesirable elements in those areas.โ€

The police image maker also stated that โ€œThe pistol was recovered in Opebi, Ikeja when Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi deployed a team from the squad to verify information received from members of the public.โ€

According to the police, โ€œAlso recovered during the discreet operation were two 9mm calibers and one expended ammunition.โ€

The 43 suspects are those found culpable after a thorough screening of all arrested suspects by the Commander RRS. They are to be charged to court immediately.โ€
