The Lagos State Police Command has grilled the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him holding a gun-like object during an altercation with a road user in Lagos.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on Tuesday via a WhatsApp message, stating that the cleric is currently being interrogated by detectives at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

“No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives. The outcome of the investigation will be made public,” Hundeyin wrote.

The now-viral footage, which surfaced online last week, showed Pastor Adefarasin holding a metallic object during a tense exchange with an unidentified individual who appeared to be filming him.

The incident, which reportedly occurred while the cleric was in an unregistered vehicle, sparked outrage on social media, with many alleging he was in possession of a firearm.

In a message to his congregation shared via his official social media handles last Saturday, the popular pastor denied the allegation, insisting that the item in his hand was not a firearm and that he did not threaten or aim it at anyone.

“The claims circulating online are a misunderstanding of the event. The object was not a gun, and at no point was it pointed at anyone. I hold the safety of every Nigerian in the highest regard,” Adefarasin stated.
