Tricycle Riders under the proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Tricycle Branch, Lagos State, have alleged the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo and his footsoldiers of attacking and destroying tricycles belonging to its members across the state.
It also accused the MC Oluomo camp of assaulting and killing its members, urging the state government, and law enforcement agents to wade in the matter.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, the Secretary, Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria, Lafiaji Branch, Lagos Island, Sheriff Babatunde-Lawal, explained that they belong to the Azeez Ajibola-Istijabah led Tricycle owners group.
Babatunde-Lawal said the Tricycle operators will not henceforth hesitate to retaliate against the MC Oluomo camp who are bent on annexing their association, with the newly created Parks and Garages Management Committee.
He enjoined the new committee to discharge its duties, without interfering in the activities of the association.
It would be recalled that both MC Oluomo and Istijabah’s factions have been at loggerheads over the control of the transport union in Lagos State.
Shortly after the creation of the new committee, the two stakeholders agreed to work together, after months of violent clashes between their supporters, at the instance of a meeting convoked by the state Ministry of Transportation.
