A 50-year-old man, Musibau Lamidi, was on Tuesday remanded for the alleged defilement of a tenant’s six-year-old daughter.
He was remanded during a family court session held at Iyaganku, Ibadan.
According to the prosecution, Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, the defendant on March 13, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., allegedly committed the offence.
Adedeji said that Musibau had an issue with the child’s mother and asked her to pack out, adding that the defendant defiled her daughter when the woman went to look for a house to rent.
The prosecution said the act violates Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law of 2006.
Magistrate Mrs. S.A. Adesina, who presided over the case, ruled for Lamidi’s remand at the Agodi custodial facility until advice is received from the Oyo State Director of Public Prosecutions.
Lamidi was not allowed to enter a plea, and the case was adjourned until April 25 for further proceedings.
