A legal practitioner. Muhydeen Yusuf, allegedly attacked by some aides of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has vowed to get justice on the matter.
The Nigerian Bar Association, Osogbo branch, had condemned the alleged attack on Yusuf, last week at the Technical College area of Osogbo, on Friday.
Osun Defender gathered that the incident has sparked reactions on social media.
Chairman of the NBA, Mr. Yemi Abiona, accused Egbedun of encouraging the attack on Yusuf by verbally assaulting him first before his aides descended on the lawyer during the execution of a court order with some policemen and bailiffs.
“We went to execute an order of the court around the Technical area, opposite Landero filling station, Osogbo. The people on the land were already complying with the order, some were already vacating the land,” Yusuf told newsmen over the weekend.

“A few minutes later, the Speaker arrived at the scene with his convoy. He told the policemen and the bailiff to vacate the place. I cautioned him that his action was not well guided, and I gesticulated by pointing my fingers at him. He said I was mad for pointing a finger at him. Before I knew it, his aides started beating me. He (the speaker) supervised the assault on me and the court bailiff.”
But the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, said the speaker and his aides were not involved in the attack on the lawyer.
Tiamiyu claimed that some people who were angry at the spot of the execution process wanted to mob Yusuf, but was rescued by one of the security aides to the speaker.
“One of the officers in mufti in the speaker’s entourage tried to provide safety for him (Yusuf) from the mob and took him straight to their car, which he never objected to,” Tiamiyu said.
However, while speaking to Osun Defender on Monday, Yusuf vowed to pursue the matter legally.
He added that the matter had been laid before the NBA which is taking necessary legal steps.
His words, “As I speak to you, I have sent petitions to the NBA both in the state and nationally. The NBA has told me that they have taken up the matter and that it would be pursued to a logical end.
“I have not received any threats. The NBA has asked me to take a sit while legal steps are ongoing.”
