English Championship club Leeds United are currently prepared to launch another £3.5m bid for Nigerian striker Jerry Mbakogu at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
Mbakogu who represents Carpi in the second division of the Italian league was close to signing for the English second-tier club in January but the deal didn’t work out.
Carpi pulled out of the negotiations as they were not ready to lose their striker who has scored six goals in 19 Serie B appearances this season.
Mbakogu has been influential to Carpi’s promotional play-off chase this season.
Carpi are ninth in the Serie B table with 36 points from 24 games.
According to the report in the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old Nigerian has applied for a dual Italian passport to help smooth a deal for Leeds in the summer rather than wait on a work permit.
Mbakogu is yet to feature for the Super Eagles.
