LG Crisis: Don’t Start A Fight You Will Lose – APC Chieftain Olawumi Warns Adeleke
- Says Security Agencies Not Listening To Governor
- Accuses SSG Of Attacking APC Members With Thugs In Osogbo
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Jamiu Olawumi, has warned Governor Ademola Adeleke not to start a fight he can’t win.
Olawumi, who was a former Special Adviser on Education to the immediate past governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, also said the reinstated APC Chairmen will continue going to the councils even if they are attacked.
OSUN DEFENDER reports the series of attacks that occurred across local government Secretariats in the state, with at least three people dead and many injured.
Speaking during a press briefing held at the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office, Osogbo, Olawumi accused the Peoples Democratic Party of sponsoring thugs to attack the APC Chairmen who resumed to their offices today.
The former SA also alleged that Adeleke and the PDP are attacking the APC members because of the local government allocations.
He called on the Attorney General of the federation to interpret the Court of Appeal judgment, which reportedly reinstated the sacked chairmen.

He said, “This fight, Mr Governor, it’s better, sir; don’t start it. Because it is a pointer that security agencies are not listening to you on this matter. Please, Your Excellency, don’t lose this fight. If you fight, you are going to lose it. We sympathised with the people who were killed.
“This is not the Osun that you claimed your late dad, distinguished Senator Adeleke fought to build. Don’t destroy the legacies of Senator Ayo Adeleke. Governor Adeleke is killing us. Today, we have casualties but we will continue to go to the office. If your thugs are not enough, you better conjure more because we will not stop going to the office.
“The reason they were doing doing this is because of the N9billion is the allocation of all local governments in Osun State which autonomy has taken away from Governor Adeleke. They are killing people because of the N9 billion allocation.
“They don’t want to allow the Court of Appeal judgement to see the light of the day because of N9 billion allocation that they cannot account for. It is a pity that we lost our people in Irewole, Isokan, and Ola-Oluwa local governments. The chairman for Irewole Local Government, Hon. Remi Abass, was about to cross the Ibadan/Ife expressway to the council, and he was killed. He was not going to any other place, he was going to resume.
“Nine in Osun Central. By 9:00 a.m., nine local government chairmen that have ten local governments have resumed. In Osun East, Ilesa East, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ile West, and Atakumosa West have resumed before 9:00 a.m.
“If you look at the total, the information available to us, at 9:00a.m, we’ve resumed at 15 local governments from 30 and it followed suit. Ife North also resumed, and people in the West, Irewole, Aiyedaade, Isokan, Iwo, Ejigbo, Egbedore, and Ola-Oluwa resumed around 9:30. Even Ede South, which houses the private apartment of the governor resumed by 9:15 a.m.
“To our amazement, PDP thugs started going to those councils and attacked them. What baffles us is the fact that the secretary to the state government, Mr Igbalaye, also led troops of PDP thugs to Osogbo local government, and it was right on Facebook, threatening anybody that will come around from APC”.
The APC Chieftain also said security agencies in the state were not listening to Governor Adeleke on the issue.
“Governor Adeleke himself said the Police, DSS, Civil Defence were not listening to him on the issue of this local government. Is it not insulting enough for a governor who is supposed to be the father of the state now to unleash terror from thugs on his people? I would like to ask Mr Governor, the tenure of these local government chairmen runs for years, will he continue to close the door of local government secretariats? How long will he do this?
“At this junction, I like to appeal to the traditional rulers who are our fathers to pull this bull in the china shop back so that they don’t destroy what we have all laboured for as a state. All the people who were killed, attacked, and shot at today are pride of our state.”
