LG Crisis: Yoruba Leaders Slam Oyetola For Orchestrating Deadly Violence

The Congress of Yoruba Leaders of Thought has strongly condemned the violent clashes that erupted in Osun State on Monday, blaming former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his associates for instigating the crisis.

The group described the attack, which reportedly led to the loss of lives, as a “brazen act of political desperation” and an attempt to undermine the state’s democratically elected government.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary General, Prince Abiodun David Olarinde, the Congress accused members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) of launching coordinated attacks on local government offices in an attempt to forcefully seize control of the administration at the grassroots level.

The statement particularly pointed fingers at Oyetola and the APC National Secretary, Bashir Ajibola, holding them responsible for what it termed “a direct assault on the peace and stability of Osun State.”

“The orchestrated attack, which led to an unfortunate loss of lives, is not only a brazen act of political desperation but also a direct assault on the peace and stability of Osun State,” the statement read Blazers Predicted to Land M Star For Anfernee Simons. “We unequivocally hold Mr. Oyetola and his political associates, including Mr. Bashir Ajibola, accountable for Monday’s violence.”

The Congress further described the opposition’s call for a state of emergency in Osun as “reckless” and “a dangerous invitation to lawlessness,” urging well-meaning Nigerians to resist any attempt to subvert democratic governance in the state.

The statement commended law enforcement authorities for preventing what could have escalated into full-blown chaos, allegedly orchestrated by political actors desperate to regain power.

Addressing the people of Osun State, the Congress urged residents to remain calm and avoid being drawn into what it described as a “calculated effort” by the opposition to instigate unrest. It reassured citizens that no group, no matter how desperate, would be allowed to derail the state’s progress.
