The Joint Labour Movement in Osun State, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), has suspended its planned picketing of branches of the United Bank for Africa in Osogbo, originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, over the issue of local government funds.

In a statement jointly signed by Chairperson, NLC, Dr Christopher Arapasopo, TUC chairman, Com. Bimbo Fasasi and the chairman, JNC, Com. Lekan Adediran, the labour movement said the protest was suspended following a meeting with the representatives of UBA
which was mediated by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Part of the resolution reached at the meeting, according to the statement, includes having a joint meeting between the Joint Labour Movement and UBA representatives.

The statement also said that both parties agreed to have a robust discussion on how to resolve the issue of Local Government funds within one (1) week starting from 23rd to 30th March, 2026.

“Having agreed on the above resolutions with a good heart of faith, we hereby suspend the
planned picketing of branches of UBA in Osogbo, Osun State for a week, starting from 23rd to 30th March, 2026,” the Joint Labour Movement noted.
