There was an heavy shooting at Rumuepirikom Community, Rivers State, the home of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
A source in the area told Vangaurd that some people had come into the community earlier and announced that people should not come out for the polls.
The report noted that when the electoral officers were about to arrive at the ward in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, armed bandits arrived in the area, as well.

It was gathered that the unidentified gunmen who arrived in the area under heavy gunfire took the area hostage scaring people from coming out to participate in the election.
It was also gathered that one person sustained a bullet injury and has been rushed to a health facility for treatment.
