Most countries are presently celebrating Eid-Al-Fitr today, Wednesday 10 April, 2024.
This year almost all Muslims will be united in their Eid celebrations, as Saudi Arabia and other countries announced that the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr will fall on 10 April.
This marks a rare occasion when the festival will take place on the same day for Muslims, with Niger, Mali and Afghanistan being among the few exceptions.
Countries that are presently Eid-el-Fitr today include Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Australia and Kuwait.
Other countries, including Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Yemen and many others are also celebrating Eid-el-Fitr on Wednesday.
Signifcance Of Eid-el-Fitr
Eid al-Fitr, also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, holds immense significance in Islam. It marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, and is a time for Muslims to celebrate their spiritual growth, perseverance, and devotion to Allah. Beyond its religious importance, Eid al-Fitr promotes unity, charity, and compassion within Muslim communities, as families come together to pray, share meals, exchange gifts, and extend generosity to those less fortunate through acts of Zakat (charity).
Additionally, Eid al-Fitr serves as a reminder of the importance of gratitude, reflection, and renewal of one’s faith, fostering a sense of joy, solidarity, and peace among Muslims worldwide.
