LIVE UPDATES: APC, PDP, Other Parties Battle Control of Osun West By-Election

11 Political Parties will today slug it out for a single winning ticket of the Osun West Senatorial By-Election which has so far being peaceful.

Both the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party are the main contender which many predicted 50:50 contest but from the reports, it is believe APC may take the day.

The records from the field shows massive turn-out voters across the 10 local governments.

Osun West election underway in Ede, Ademola Adeleke’s town. Election started exactly 8a.m., and is going on peacefully.

Senator Mudashiru Husain has just exercise his franchise amidst cheers from people of his unit. He voted at exactly 9:38am at polling unit 1, ward 3 in Beulah Baptist Primary School, Ejigbo.

APC candidate, Mudashiru Husain, declares free feeding for all voters and voters are queuing to collect food at the polling centre.

Former Minister for Youth Development, Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, urged the INEC to sustain credibility and standard set up by the last administration.

He spoke at Ward 5, unit 16 Ode-Omu where he cast his vote.

He expressed satisfaction with the starting of the election and expressed fear in the final collation, saying that election is usually rigged at the collation centre.

Commissioner for Cooperative, Industries and Commerce, Mr Ismail Alagbada, commends INEC on the poll so far.

Alagbada who cast his vote at Ward 4, Unit 4 described the election as peaceful so far.

Ede South and Ede North is relatively peaceful in all the polling units visited so far.  The combined security team comprising Nigeria Army, Police and Nigeria Civil Defence Corps are strictly enforcing restriction order.

The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Osun state, Hon Rasaq Salinsile has exercised his voting franchise in the ongoing Osun West Senatorial By-election.

Salinsile who voted at ward 4, polling unit 2 DC Primary School, Oke-Ola in Iwo local government area expressed optimism that the party is sure of victory.

He said Iwo as a town has never betrayed progressive politics and has always toll the line of developmental strides which APC is known for.

APC In Early Lead In Osun Senatorial Poll

As results of the senatorial by-election in Osun state continue to trickle in, results being released by officials at polling centres suggest that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Mudashiru Husain is ahead in key area of the district.

Specifically, results from the political constituencies of the major actors in the district politics are gradually emerging.

For instance, while the incumbent speaker, Hon Najeem Salaam recorded maximum votes in Ejigbo local government areas, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Ademola Adeleke showed good strength in Ede, his home town.

Similarly, the state Secretary of APC, Hon Rasaq Salinsile delivered Iwo town for the APC by raking in good votes for APC in most of the local government areas including Ayedire and Ola-Oluwa which happens to be part of Iwoland.

Also, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress, Elder Peter Babalola who hails from Irewole local government garnered massive votes for the party which many observers long envisage.
