Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu, has rejected the official results of the November 8, 2025 election, which declared incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner.

Speaking to journalists at his Nnewi office on Sunday, less than six hours after INEC’s announcement, Dr. Moghalu expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the poll, citing multiple irregularities.

He alleged that the election was undermined by widespread vote buying and incidents of underage voting in several areas.

“The November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State fell far short of expectations. I reject it in its entirety,” he said. “I have participated in previous elections, but this one was notably worse. The scale of vote buying was alarming.”

Dr. Moghalu also claimed that minors were seen carrying voter cards and being allowed to cast votes.

“Children who should not have had voter cards were openly voting,” he said. “Such occurrences raise serious questions about the credibility of the process.”

He further alleged that in some polling units, the LP name appeared on ballots without the party logo, making it difficult for voters to identify the party’s slot.

The LP candidate said he would issue a more detailed statement once he receives a full report from his election agents across the state.

“After reviewing the complete report, we will decide our next steps. For now, the result is rejected,” he added.

When asked if he would challenge the outcome in court, he did not give a definite answer, describing it as premature without analysing all the reports.

Regarding claims that some LP agents were absent from certain polling units, Dr. Moghalu suggested that some may have left in frustration over what they witnessed during voting.
