Makinde Unveils Oyo @50 Logo, Launches 50-Day Countdown
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has unveiled the official Oyo State @50 logo and inaugurated a 50-day countdown to the golden jubilee anniversary of the state’s creation, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to sustainable development and continuity in governance.
The unveiling ceremony, held at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, drew prominent dignitaries, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of the state, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja; former Deputy Governor, Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye; and a representative of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, among other traditional rulers and eminent citizens.
At the event, the winner of the Oyo State @50 Logo Design Competition, Mr Ajayi Olaleye Sunday, received a cash prize of ₦1.5 million.
Governor Makinde described the golden jubilee as well deserved, noting that despite Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges, Oyo State has continued to record steady progress. He commended past administrations for their contributions and emphasised his government’s policy of completing viable inherited projects to ensure continuity.
The governor cited key achievements, including the Saki Township Road, Akobo Bridge, resolution of the LAUTECH ownership crisis, and the Ibadan Circular Road, noting that the first 32 kilometres would be commissioned during the anniversary celebrations.
He assured residents of sustained development beyond his tenure and announced that the anniversary banquet would hold at the new Government House Banquet Hall.
