Mammoth crowd today thronged Unit 01, Ward 8, Ifofin in Ilesa West Local Government Council Area of the State of Osun to welcome the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for revalidation of his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aregbesola who arrived the polling unit around 5pm with his wife, Alhaja Sherifat and sons, Kabir and Rauf (Junior), was excited to see thousands of APC members waiting for his arrival.
The APC members could not also hide their joy, singing different political songs to reaffirm their supports and love for the former governor of the state.
Mrs Aregbesola was the first to revalidate his membership, followed by the two sons and the Minister.
Speaking after the exercise, Aregbesola advised members of the party who are yet to register to do so.
He said registration and revalidation of their membership with the APC was the only way they could decide who fly the party’s flag in future elections.
Aregbesola said, “The reason for this exercise is for us to be able to exercise internal democracy in the party, choose who will fly the flag of the party in future elections. So, if you have not registered, I urge you to do so. It also shows you are part of us.”
Aregbesola also urged the people of the country to be patient with the president as he was working round the clock to ameliorate the hardship in the country.
He however, enjoined them not to lower their guards and take responsibility for their lives as the Coronavirus pandemic is still raging.
“Buhari gave me the chance to be here. He is aware of our pains. He is working hard to put smile on our faces, and very soon an end will come to the hardship confronting us.
“The president also asked me to tell you not lower your guard. The COVID-19 is still very much with us. We have to take full responsibility of our lives,” Aregbesola said.
At the event were Speaker House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, Secretary of the APC in the State, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, Leader of the party in Ijesaland, Chief Kunle Odeyemi, and Chairman of the party in Ilesa East, Mr Idowu Korede, among others.
