A magistrate court sitting in Osogbo on Monday, arraigned a 27-year-old man, Diran Olawale for allegedly defrauding one Abiola Adelakun to the tune of N700,000.
The accused person was arraigned before Magistrate O.A. Oloyode on
three counts charge bothering on felony, stealing and fraud.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Adewuyi Kehinde told the court that the defendant committed the offence in April 2011 at No 3, Olobi street, Owo Ope, Osogbo.
Sergeant Kehinde said the accused obtained the sum of N700,000.00 under pretense to purchase his victim an acre of land at Ota- Efun knowing fully well to be false.
The plaintiff stated further that, the defendant was arrested with the stolen items in his possession by police detective before he was brought to court.
The alleged offence according to the Prosecutor, was contrary to and punishable under Section 419,390 (9) and 249 (D) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria,2003.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the three count charges slammed against him.
Legal Aid counsel, Barr. Alayokun Ayobami prayed the to court to grant bail to the accused person in the most libral terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Oloyode, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.
The case was adjourned till May 3, 2018 for hearing.
