Man, 27, Lands In Prison Over Alleged Rape

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Capital of the State of Osun, has remanded a 27-year-old man, Gafaru Rasaki, in Ilesha prison custody for allegedly raping one Florence Adeyanju.
Rasaki was arraigned before the court on two count charges bothering on rape and assault.
Prosecutor Elisha Olusegun told the court that the accused person committed the alleged offence on July 11 at 2pm, at Ido-Osun, Osogbo.
He added the accused had unlawful canal knowledge of one Florence Adeyanju, and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under section 358 and section 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
In his ruling, Magistrate Sodamade, ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesha prison custody.
She also ruled that the case file be duplicated and sent to the office of Directorate for Public Prosecution for legal advice and directed Counsel to the accused person, Barrister Bose Dada, to file formal application for the bail of her client at the higher court.
Sodamade thereby adjourned the case till September 5, 2018, for mention.
