A 40-year -old man, Yakubu Alhassan was on Wednesday arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court in Osun State, for allegedly stealing breeding pigs worth N500,000.
Alhassan is facing a two- count charge bothering on theft.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Nov. 15, 2017 at about 7:00 p.m. , at Kola- Balogun area, of the state.
Ajayi said the defendant stole eight special high breed pigs belonging to one Olu Olaniyi.
He added that, Alhassan had been on the run before he was arrested by the police detectives and brought to court.
He said the offence committed contravened section 516 (A) and 383 punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11.laws of Osun, 2003.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two- count charge preferred against him.
The Defense Counsel, Mrs Odunayo Helen, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Ayilara, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in the like sum.
Ayilara said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and two passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned to March 3 for hearing.
