A man simply identified as Paul has been sentenced to nine months in prison for not using a pedestrian bridge.

The convict was also reported to have assaulted personnel of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps.

He was sentenced by a mobile court in Oshodi, Lagos.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

Wahab wrote, โ€œPaul was apprehended on April 16 for not using the pedestrian bridge at Agbado Oke Odo, and in the process, he assaulted and wounded the enforcement personnel of LAGESCOfficial (KAI).

โ€œThe mobile court sitting at Oshodi yesterday sentenced him to nine months imprisonment.โ€

The ministry had recently warned residents against shunning pedestrian bridges, as it described the crossing of major highways in the state by pedestrians as an offence.
