Man Commits Suicide In Ekiti School After Denying ₦3.8m Theft Allegation
A man, Dolapo Augustine Awolola, left a heartbreaking suicide note in which he denied stealing ₦3.8 million before taking his own life inside a classroom at Iworoko Community High School in Ekiti State.
Zagazola Makama learnt that the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 15, in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Awolola, identified as a member of the Celestial Church of Christ, was found lifeless by a school security guard, Mr Sunday Salami.
He was dressed in the church’s white garment, with a gold-plated necklace on his neck.
A black purse, an Android phone, and a suicide note were found in his pocket.
In the note, he wrote, “I have nothing left. My family abandoned me. My church disowned me. They said I stole ₦3.8 million — something I know nothing about.”
He lamented that those closest to him, including his family and church, refused to hear his side and turned their backs on him.
“Even my own people refused to hear me. My church turned their back on me. I can’t survive this disgrace. I don’t want to continue in a world where my name is already destroyed,” he added.
Police officers who arrived at the scene said no marks of violence were found on the body.
The corpse has been deposited at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The family of the deceased has been informed, while investigations are ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding his death.
