Man Docked For Allegedly Organising Indian Hemp Party

The Osun State Police Command on, April 2, 2018 arraigned a 29-year- old man,  Saheed Ayanwuyi before a magistrate court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly organising Indian hemp party. 

Saheed was arraigned on a four-count charge bothering on causing terror, felony, murder and disturbing the peace of the environment.

The prosecutor, Inspector Jafani Muslim told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 1st at about 5pm at Alaperin Junction Sabo Area in Osogbo.

Jafani, explained further that Saheed and others at large conduct themselves in a disorderly manner to cause fear in the neighbourhood and disturbed the peace of the environment.

According to prosecutor, the accused person organised a party called India hemp carnival and possess some cannabis sativa which are being smoked in the public.

Jafani said that, the offence contravened sections 516(a) section 69 punishable under section 70 section 80 and section 430 of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2003.

Saheed Ayanwuyi pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge preferred against him.

The Defence counsel, Mr Okobe Najite prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.

Okobe said the suspect is ready to provide a reliable and credible surety to the court.

While the ruling, the Presiding Magisterate, Tunde Badmus granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with surety. He said surety must swear to affidavit of means and provide three passports photographs and three years of tax payments.

He also ordered that the address of the surety should be verified by the police. The case was adjourned to April 16, for hearing.
