A 34-year-old man, Blessing Paul Oguntayo, has been arraigned in court and remanded in Correctional Centre over for allegedly fraudulently obtaining a sum of N385, 000 for admission process.
Oguntayo, according to the charge sheet made available to OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, fraudulently obtained the sum of N290, 000 from one pastor Olaniyi Oladipupo on the pretence of securing admission for his daughter, Esther, into School Of Nursing, Osogbo.
The suspect was also accused of fraudulently obtaining a sum of N295, 000 from one Abiola Adeniran on the same pretence of facilitating admission for her.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye told the court that the suspect committed the alleged offence sometimes in the month of October 2019 at Testing Ground Area, Osogbo.
Adeoye said the alleged offence contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
But the suspect pleaded not guilty to the allegations levelled against him.
Defence Counsel, Praise Ofoyejo prayed the court to grant bail to the accused person.
However, the police prosecutor objected the bail application on the ground that the suspect had earlier abused the administrative bail granted to him by the police on December 21, 2019.
Adeoye said the police tracked and arrested the surety before the accused person was apprehended.
The magistrate, Mrs. Modupe Awodele, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till January 18, 2021 for hearing.
