Man Flees After Fatally Stabbing Cousin In Lagos

A man identified as Ganiyu Ibrahim is currently on the run after allegedly stabbing his cousin, Afeez Akeem, to death during an argument in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the altercation between Ibrahim and Akeem escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the clash, Ibrahim reportedly broke a bottle and stabbed Akeem in the chest.

Hundeyin shared in a statement: “Today, 14/10/2024, at about 7 PM, a complainant reported that her son, Ganiyu Ibrahim, and her nephew, Afeez Akeem, had a misunderstanding that led to a physical fight. Ganiyu broke a bottle and stabbed Afeez on the left side of his chest. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.”

While detectives have been mobilized to investigate the scene, Ibrahim fled immediately after the incident. The family of the deceased declined an autopsy, opting for burial according to Islamic rites.

The police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, with investigations ongoing.
