A 62-year-old man, Samson Okeleye, has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing a Tecno phone valued at N23,000 and a wood-cutting machine from one Muritala Hamzat, a farmer.
“The defendant stole one Tecno phone valued at N23,000 and a wood-cutting machine from one Muritala Hamzat, a farmer,” said the prosecutor, Insp. Oladejo Balogun.
Okeleye and others allegedly conspired to commit the offences on August 21 at about 2:00 p.m. in Lagaye village, Eruwa, Oyo State.
Additionally, Okeleye allegedly stole N50,000 from Hamzat’s brother, Rilwan, and terrorized the family while armed with a gun and cutlasses.
“He also stole cash of N50,000 from the complainant’s brother, Rilwan Hamzat, and terrorised Hamzat and the family while armed with a gun and cutlasses,” Mr. Balogun said.

The defendant has been charged with conspiracy, theft, and being armed with a gun, but pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted Okeleye bail in the sum of N200,000 with two reliable sureties and adjourned the case until November 11 for hearing.
Mr Balogun said the offences contravened sections 517, 390(9) and 80 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
