Man In Prison Over Alleged Fraud

A middle aged man, Oluwafemi Bola has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly duping a victim the sum of N100,000.

The charge sheet read in court disclosed that the suspect collected the stated sum of money on the pretence to help him secure a room apartment

It stated that the offence is contrary and punishable under section 419 of the state penal code.

The charge sheet also disclosed that the suspect converted the sum of money to his personal use, an offence punishable under Section 39(9) of Osun state criminal law 2003.

According to the charge sheet, the suspect committed the alleged offence sometimes in January 2019.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge preferred against him.

Defence counsel, Mr T. B. Ayodele prayed the court to admit his client to bail in the most liberal terms.

However, while interrogating the suspect, the Magistrate, Mr. O. A. Ayilara discovered that the accused person had rented out the apartment in question to another person but refused to refund the money of the victim even after claiming that he had used the initial money to pay his children school fees.

He (Magistrate) then ruled that the suspect be remanded in Ilesa Prison custody and adjourned the matter till May 3, 2019 for mention.
