A 38-year-old man, Adegboyega Ajayi, has been arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates Court, for allegedly damaging a car he borrowed from his friend, Jide Ayantayo.
Speaking before the court in Osogbo, on Tuesday, police prosecutor, Jacob Akintunde, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said Ajayi abandoned and failed to repair an unregistered Peugeot 806 space wagon he borrowed from Ayantayo, after crashing it in an accident.
According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, the defendant committed the alleged offence on September 2, 2022.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravenes Sections 249(d) and 45 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol.II, Law of Osun, 2002.
Ajayi, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The Defence Counsel, T.B Ayodele, in an oral bail application, prayed the court to admit the accused person to bail, promising that he would provide a reliable surety.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Muibah Olatunji, granted bail to Ajayi in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties.
The case was adjourned until July 10th, 2024.
