An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered the remand of a 35-year-old man, Rafiu Tunde in Ilesha prison custody over alleged indecent assault.
Rafiu was arraigned on a two-count charge bothering on indecent assault. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Police prosecutor Inspector Jafani Muslim told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 14, 2018 at Oke-fia GRA Osogbo.
The charge sheet revealed that Rafiu indecently assaulted one Ifih Happiness by using knife to stab her and as a result, she sustained injury and also tore her pant and cloth.
Jafani said the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 355 and 353 of the criminal code Cap 34 vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
Defence counsel, Barrister Olatunbosun Ladipo prayed the court to grant his client bail, saying he knows the man to be a gentle and kind soul.
Presiding Magistrate, M.A Awodele ordered the remand of the accused in Ilesha Prison and adjourned the matter till May 28, 2018 for ruling on bail.
