A man, Onyeka Mbaka, have been remanded in a correctional facility for alleged defilement of a 15-year old girl.
The defendant was remanded by Justice Rahman Oshodi of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.
Mbaka was arraigned by the Lagos State Government for defilement.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
Following his not guilty plea, the state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, prayed the court to remand the defendant accordingly.
Okeowo had told the court that the prosecution intends to call three witnesses to prove the charge against the defendant.
She said that the defendant committed the offence sometime in March 2023 at No. 16, Moshalasi Street, in the Ilasa area of Lagos.
According to her, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Oshodi remanded Mbaka in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Center, pending the determination of his bail application and commencement of trial.
He subsequently adjourned the case until March 22 for trial.
